How to tune your instrument

  1. Choose your instrument preset — Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Violin or Chromatic.
  2. Press “Start tuner” and allow microphone access when your browser asks.
  3. Play one string or note; read the detected note, the Hz and how many cents you are off.
  4. Turn the peg until the needle centres and turns green within five cents, then move to the next string.

This tuner estimates fundamental frequency from microphone input between roughly 50 and 1500 Hz, then maps it to the nearest note and cents offset. How do I tune my guitar with this online tuner?
Pick the Guitar preset, press Start tuner and allow microphone access, then pluck one string at a time. The tuner shows the detected note, the cents you are off and a needle that turns green when you are within five cents — turn the peg until each of the EADGBE strings locks in.
Does the tuner work for bass, ukulele and violin too?
Yes. Switch presets to Bass (EADG), Ukulele (GCEA) or Violin (GDAE) and the tool highlights which string you are closest to. Chromatic mode tunes any instrument to the nearest semitone, so it also covers mandolin, cello and orchestral tuning.
Can I change the reference pitch from 440 Hz?
Yes. The A4 reference slider goes from 415 Hz to 445 Hz, with 440 Hz as the default. Drop it to 432 Hz for alternative tuning, or match an ensemble that tunes to 441 or 442 Hz — every target frequency recalculates instantly.
