How to convolve audio with a custom IR

  4. Render the complete tail locally, compare Original, Wet and Difference, then export WAV or MP3.

A general convolver, not a synthetic room preset

This tool applies the waveform you provide. An IR may represent a measured space, speaker, resonant object, filter or a designed response, but the convolver does not identify or validate that meaning. The short built-in examples simply make the workflow testable before you load your own file.

Trim happens before reverse and normalization. Pre-delay inserts exact zero frames before the wet response. When Wet is above zero, the dry source is padded with zeros so the full convolution tail is retained rather than cut at the source duration.

FAQ

What is an impulse response convolver?
It combines every source sample with a measured or designed impulse response. The IR can represent a room, device, resonant object or other linear time-invariant response; this tool does not infer what the IR represents.
How long is the rendered output?
When Wet is above zero, the render includes source frames plus the processed IR frames plus pre-delay frames minus one. The dry source is zero-padded across that tail. At zero Wet and zero output trim, the tool returns the exact source timeline.
How are mono and stereo files combined?
Output uses one channel only when both source and IR are mono. A stereo source with mono IR keeps two source channels; a mono source with stereo IR becomes stereo. Each output side uses its matching side or the available mono channel.
Is this the same as Reverb Designer or Guitar Amp Simulator?
No. Reverb Designer creates a synthetic response from controls, and Guitar Amp Simulator uses purpose-built amp and cabinet processing. This convolver is centered on loading and preparing an arbitrary user-supplied IR without claiming a specific room or cabinet model.
