The preset names describe design characters only: the IR is not sampled from, measured in or identified with a physical room. The same settings produce the same synthetic IR, including the actual early-reflection tap pattern and damping applied to the diffuse tail.

For vocal reverb, pre-delay can preserve word definition before reflections arrive, while damping can keep sibilants from building up. Decay support controls the exact generated IR duration; the displayed synthetic RT60 target describes the design envelope and is not a measured estimate or an acoustic measurement. It creates a deterministic synthetic impulse response and can convolve it with audio in your browser. Room-style, hall-style, plate-style, cathedral-style and spring-style are designed characters, not recordings or measurements of named physical spaces.
What reverb settings work well for vocals?
A plate-style or short hall-style design is a practical starting point. Try 15-35 ms of pre-delay to separate the vocal from the reflections, then set decay by tempo and use damping if consonants become sharp. These are starting points, not rules.
What do pre-delay, decay, damping and reflection density change?
Pre-delay sets the silent gap before the first IR sample. Decay sets the exact supported tail length from 0.3 to 8 seconds. Damping low-passes late reflections, while early-reflection density changes the number and spacing of deterministic early taps in the impulse response.
How long is the rendered reverb tail?
For a wet mix, the output contains source frames plus impulse-response frames minus one sample. The IR contains the selected pre-delay followed by the selected decay support. At 0% wet, the output is exactly the source length and no silent tail is appended.
Can I export the impulse response and settings?
Yes. The designer exports a deterministic stereo 48 kHz, 16-bit PCM IR WAV and a JSON settings receipt with the local schema ID audiowrench.reverb-designer.receipt.v1. A loaded source can also be rendered to WAV or 320 kbps MP3.
